While navigating the Missouri medical cannabis market, three friends- an accountant/farmer, biochemist, and sales/marketing professional, discovered a gap in the cannabis market. Their visits to farms & dispensaries uncovered a lack of quality and a consistent focus on super-high THC levels with a lack of variety. Some of the most legendary strains were nowhere to be found. Maui Wowie, Purple Haze, Afghani Kush, and The Big were all absent. The trio began discussing what they had witnessed on commercial farms and in retail dispensaries with family and friends. Friends began to share their experiences with medical cannabis. They griped that after waiting for so long to legalize, many of the cannabis strains were too strong for them; “No finesse,” “No subtlety,” and “No delicacy.” They missed the flavor of the old school cannabis; “No taste.”  They also missed the colored buds of the classics; “No allure or grace,” “No style.”

The trio searched for seeds from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s. The farmer (a 3rd generation grower) found his extensive seed catalog contained many of the “Classic Strains.” Thus, the germination of Classic Strain Seed Co., Rooted in tradition, brought to fruition in 2022.
